Reflux marble

Post by SMOKEU »

I have just bought a Still Spirits super reflux and I've heard that it should have a marble in it somewhere, but I can't find it. Where is it supposed to be?

It's probably talking about the packing material and instead of one it's many. I'd probably go with copper mesh or stainless scrubbers rather than marbles, although, I'm not to familiar with that particular still.

Some of the "commercial" still manufacturers recommend one or several marbles in the boiler to monitor the boil... Using copper fittings or chips is another option... The addition tends to smooth the boil due to the added nucleation points...

I'm pretty sure there is a still spirts (hiss, booo) still that does rely on a single marble for reflux. it would be in the column. if there is scrubbers or something else in there then don't stress about it, you don't have that still.
