yowch! I been going to grocerie stores and liquor stores for a month now and no Angostura bitters on the shelf anywhere. How am I to make my manhattans and old fashioneds? I finally google it, and sure enough there's a shortage:

I guess they're making the stuff again but there will be a lag in distribution for a while. Hope my bottle don't run out before the restock, it's pretty low! I've never even seen another brand of bitters in "Warshington" state, other than campari, which is of course a different type of beast. This does tweak my DIY tendencies though, maybe I could find a recipe that the local apothecary could fill and make my own.

There is a great bitters out of New Orleans (i belive) named Peychauds. Also the Bitters/Vermouth niche market is exploding right now. Check out this artice @ CHOW.com. There are 4 great recipes to check out. The Aromatic and Sunshine recipes are fantastic.
