So my dad took out there old electric stove this weekend cuz ma wanted to switch to gas. Its about 15 years old and works great still. He's gonna take it to the dump. I was just wondering what kind of goodies might be in there for 220 elec. heat control, if any. there are 4 burners on top and controllers for those burners. Also the one for the oven. I think they may cycle to slowly as is, but I remember some talk about stove parts a while back and dont know what about? oh, and there is a microwave too, dont know if theres anything in there worth scrounging. Anyone here done this, or have thoughts in general??

If it's a quality electric stove, it might not cycle very much. I always thought that cycling was a cheap means to regulate heat output. I'd reckon on higher end stoves, they might have a relatively consistent heating setup. Worth testing at least.

mk there are micro switches 1or 2 fans and a gear reduced motor in that microwave if you have use for that stuff. you can use the magnetron to melt the neighbors chickens.(kidding their dangerous without shielding). cob

Watch those Magnetrons if they are charged they will knock the living piss out of you. They melt screwdrivers pretty easily

mk you could try the shielding from around the magnetron but it might get a chilly reception from SHMBO.
