Filtering bourbon chunks

I filtered the bourbon chunks out of my bottle with a piece of cloth folded over 4 times. There is now a small amount of black sediment in the bottle with the filtered bourbon. What's a better way to filter out the sediment?

Heres a question and I welcome anyone to shoot holes in this.

My dad used a Hunk of natural sea sponge set in the ferment on the end of a copper tube siphon to strain his ferments, anyone else ever heard of this.

But this is looking back 25-30 years and all his tubing was 50/50 solider. His ferment bucket was a galvanized steel wash tub, and his air lock was a sheet sprayed with water covering the tub.
