How to go about modifying this 5L still

here is my still with the lid and fan removed

i've added a temp. probe that connects to my multi meter so i can measure the temp - i did a couple of runs, but i put the probe in the liquid/wash/etc should it be near where it enters the cooling chamber instead? was the liquid temp i was measuring higher or lower than the vape temp?
looks like i can just pull out the aluminium tubing, since where it enters into the chamber its not soldered its just sealed and held in place with some soft plastic - thats it. replace it with some copper tubing thats water cooled and maybe add a thumper/doubler?
is there more I can do to improve it?
