red vinegar for cleaning copper?

Is there any reason why i shouldn't use red vinegar to clean my copper scrubbers instead of white vinegar?
Why i ask is that my grocerie store sells both red and white for the same price per gallon, except the red one comes is a 1 gallon glass demi-john. 3.99$ a gallon an the demi-john makes for a nice freebie.
Any reason why i shouldn't use the red one to clean copper? Acetic acid are both 5%.

personally cant offer a good reason why not...but you did touch on a subject that hits close to home for me.
when me and the mrs go shopping, its funny how now i base my decisions on what to but whether or not it comes in a glass jar or plastic jar. i never ever thought i would turn into a glass ware collector.
but lo an behold. i even got my brother and sister in law keeping glass jars for me. used to use tomato sauce from a can, now guess what? it has to come from a jar. there is a brand i now get that isnt too much more than store brand that is an actual mason jar brand.
the little things in life, eh?

I was right there with you, toofless, until that brand switched from mason jars to carafes...

I assume you are mixing some salt with the vinegar
NaCl + HAc = mild HCl

You could add enough flour to make a paste so the salt and vinegar sticks for a bit while you scrub. That's what we used to use in cooking school to scrub all that copper

Great tip! how well does this work on Recycled copper? Guess I'll find out since that's what I'm going to be doing this weekend. This stuff is about as bad as you can imagine so I'll let you know how it turns out.
Edit: Worked like a hot damn, except on the copper oxide. Copper oxide still needed "elbow grease" to get rid of it.
