one year stillin anniversary

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

one year stillin anniversary

Post by still_in »

hi all

just wanted to commemorate my 1 year Likker Makin' Anniersary.

It was actually a year and a month ago when I made my first shitty batch of moonshine by distilling some cheap Vermouth using a 2L kettle.

A lot has happened since then. Now I am tinkering with an all natural gin recipe on my 58L keg still with a 2.5 copper colum, haha.

By now, the "games and tupperware" cupboard has turned into the "Likker Cabinet.
The "top of the kitchen cupboards" has gone from storing preserves and big pots to storing empty bottles.
The coffee table/old chest in the living room is now dedicated to "Related Hardware and Appurtenances"
I have built a 4' by 6' platform in the hallway to store grains, the still, and my "heat shield"
I own 5 carboys and one 78L garbage can/fermenter.

I've had a number of near catastrophic run ins with the landlord and have learned some common sense by now. (grains dont belong down the drains)
I've drank countless litres of homemade likker, and shared it with my friends. Some of it was incredibly good (my rum) and some of it was regrettably just "ok" (my whiskeys).

I no longer have to think about Christmas presents.

I now know how to solder.

My wife thinks its cool.

Cheers!

Congratualtions. This board is great, many of us would be struggling greatly if not for all the folks on her so willing to help us all out...
