Attaching copper to pressure cooker PT2.... AkCoyote?

AkCoyote? I took your advice, I bored out the center hole on my pressure cooker and then using stainless steal nuts/bolts, mounted the 1" black pipe flange to the pot, using cork as a seal between pot and flange. Looks good. I have 90% of my lyme arm and condensor soldered together now, but I ran out of propane, so as soon as I get to the store I'll wrap that up.

Now I have to ask about the one connecting where I'd use a threaded copper adapter. I figure it would be best if I put the adapter onto the flange first before I soldered the column/arm/condensor assembly. I'm just curious, in the other post you did mention that I should solder the connector to the flange? Will the black pipe flange accept solder? If it won't can I use teflon plumbing tape?

Fyi, Coyote, this was a wonderful idea!!! So much so when I go to convert my keg to a reflux still, I'll just get a 2" flange and use that!!!
