I just bought this POT STILL from Milehi

- My New Pot Still
It was to arrive today, my first still!! I waited all night and all day preping my wash, then I got the call. "UPS here, I am calling to inform you we cannot deliver your package 'cause a pole is sticking out of the box. Our opinion is it was damaged." Damn, damn, damn it. I've got the worst luck ever! According to Milehi this was a prototype Still.
8-gallon, electric 220V distiller with a 3”-diameter tower. 21” tall. This was a proto type distiller which we decided not to put into regular production. The 1500W heating element and thermostat came from England, and it was very expensive and it seemed to cycle more than we would have liked to add to our distiller line-up at Mile Hi Distilling.com. This will come with cooper packing and hoses and all clamps and gaskets to complete the distiller. You just add sugar and water and plug it in.
Also comes with
1 bag of Turbo Whisky Pure yeast
1 bag of Turbo Vodka Pure yeast
1 bag of Turbo batch yeast.
All bags are for 25-liter wash each.
Alcohol meter
Triple-scaled Hydrometer
Glass test jar
1 bag of Premium Carbon
Used fermenting bucket with air lock and bung.
SOLD AS IS; NO REFUNDS
Now what do I do??? I'm really bummin.

I really want to but UPS is making the call, besides I bought it for the wow factor, I don't want a damaged product, it would be hard to repair it's stainless. Otherwise I'd build a copper one from plans like great members like you.

Call there customer service line and send them a copy of your purchase order.

In my opinion there is a good chance that the still isn't damaged, only the packing.
The "pole" should be the condensor which is soldered to the column.
Can you go to see the package?

I agree SC if we was talking about "widgets" but filling out the paperwork on a claim could put one in a precarious position.
I think I'd take delivery and do what I had to.

why don't you go to ups and ask to inspect the package, then go from there. if they ask what it is fore say you use it to recover antifreeze,

It took me 3 tries to get a dehydrator from Cabelas via UPS. First delivery was OBVIOUSLY damaged, nice dent in the box and any movement whatsoever and you could hear the shards of glass tinkering around. They delivered it anyway!
I'd check that UPS has assessed it to be "damaged" correctly and not just that the condenser is sticking out of the box/packaging.

Congratulations !
I'm glad you settled on the "glass-half-full" approach only to find out the glass was in fact full. That's a nice looking rig and I know you'll let us know how well it runs.

Best of luck with the "water purifier" defense (should that ever become necessary)
From my point of view, the less paper you fill out in this endeavor the better off you'll be (even if it costs a few bucks in the end)
