Solder Composition

Post by Whitedog »

I know this has been discussed on numerous occasions (search produces ~166 pages from "solder"), and I remember reading a suggestion to start a thread with a list of acceptable solder compositions. I am looking and remember cadmium being questionable as to whether or not it is safe in our application. I am wondering if there are % compositions that are preferred, undesireable, etc. I see there are some compositions better suited for gap filling, tight joints, ferrous and non-ferrous material joining, etc. I would like to start this thread to share specific information pertaining to soldering and brazing. I, for sure, need a little more understanding and education in the subject. If this is an already existing thread, please direct me to it. Thanks, WD
