Blue distillate
I noticed a posting that suggested that a run could create a blue distillate. I thought the distillation process produced a clear liquid. I read further that if the wash was too rich in nutrients and a coppoer still was used a chemical reaction could take place. The result is a blue distillate and a strong amonia odor. The distillate is obviously trash, but can the still be cleaned effectively? How can one be assured future runs will not pick up the amonia and or blue? If this happens is a new still in order? Looking to start up a craft distillery and this is the first time I read anything like this and am curious as to how often it occurs and if it damages the equipment. thanks
