Looking good Pumpman, What size tubing did you use for that mini-coil? if its 3/8"inside a 3"cap, that gives me more hope for winding the coil for my new condenser.

1/4" soap and water filled and frozen then wrapped around a 1" pipe and placed inside a 2" cap.

We want to see more copper, where's the rest of the column.

Workin on it Mike. I messed up the rest of my tubing because it melts to fast. It was probably 100 in my garage today.

Can't wait for that warm weather to return, it's bloody cold by Oz standards here today especially in the mornings. But I suppose its warm compared to UK temperatures.

I suppose you used dish-washing liquid for the soap?

If it was a good quality liquid (or if it wasn't, but the cheap stuff is a lot weaker I think);

could you give us an idea of how much to put in the water?

I am wondering if the detergent has a lubrication factor, to allow the ice to move when bending.

Yeah Baker I used Dawn dish soap but I'm affraid I'm a little unsientific. I just put some in a cup and added some water and froze it. I didn't even use anything to hold the end of the tube. Just worked it around the pipe with my hands.

About the same amount as you would use to wash dishes or a bit more?

(I'm not very scientific either!)

A bit more just play around and find what works for you. 1/4" tube is pretty cheap.

Looks like soap and water works at home freezer temps. Might be just the trick we need for easy coil making.

Well Hook it is easier to fill the 1/4"tube with liquid then salt, like I said it melts pretty fast so you have to work fast.
