Hi all, I've been dormant for a while. Can anyone advise me about heating a wash in the winter? I have these large tanks outside on concrete stands, What I propose to do is put a central heating mat on the plinth screed it, wrap a thermal blanket around the tank and keep the tempreature in the tank constant . The question is, is it ok to heat a wash? The reason I want to do this is my Oranges have ripend on the trees and I'd like to use them, I have about 30 trees. The ambient temperature get's as low as -6 degrees cecius around here. Thanks for any advice Damian

If you can maintain around 26-28 degrees your wash will be fine.

Thanks OD, so it's ok to apply heat (warmth) to the wash without messing it up?

I use an aquarium heater in cold weather. Works for me.

yes applying heat is fine. large washes will generate their own heat though, insulation will probably go a long way.

Yeah Old Dog you don't have to remind me. This time last year I did a citrus run the bleeding thing stalled I thought that was it tossed the lot only to hear from one of the good guy's here that the wash would have begun again when it warmed up so that's why I'm thinking of setting up so I can give it some heat in the cold.
