Hi everyone, I bought a still from Brewhaus.com, but at the top of the column is a rubber bung used to seal it. I was wondering if the rubber bung is useable, or will it contaminate the liquor? If it’s not usable, is there a better option to fill that hole in the top of the still?

While some folks consider natural gum rubber as safe with high temperature high proof alcohol spirits, many here don't share that consideration... It is, therefore, up to you to make that final determination... Several members here have opted to go with either a copper cap or a wooden plug instead of the rubber...

All of the questions you have asked have been answered multiple times already... Try using the search mechanisms we have in place before posting questions... Also, stop by the Welcome Center and give us a proper introduction, including any previous distillation related experience...

Okay I think you're right rad, rubber sounds pretty sketchy, I'll opt for the ss or copper cap soon as I can find one. Thanks for answering all my questions rad, (sorry they're all repeats - I'll be using that search function from now on!) I also just posted an introduction on the welcome page.
