Business plan for legal microdistillery?

I remember seeing a fully detailed business plan for a microdistillery on this website before, but for the life of me I can't find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It would be very helpful.

There is one (ONE) microdistillery permit available in my region of the state and no one has yet applied for it. The law was recently passed, hence the relative lack of interest. I need to move quickly in order to secure it (the state permit is quite cheap) and it would be very helpful to have a detailed plan of what federal regulations, fees, etc., one needs to comply with. I probably plan to rent a temporary commercial space and then terminate the lease but safekeep the permit (the state allows this) until I can find an ideal location.

it is not a business plan, but if you check out the post called "Opening a legal distillery in the US" within this same forum (the off topic), there is quite a lot of detail (including many of the regs needed to be complied with.

Good luck, yer off on a pretty large undertaking.

Your not going to find a business plan anywhere, as far as I know it doesn't yet exist. I think a temp location is going to be hard to do with the feds. I think most states require a fed permit first and the feds require you to have your equipment in place before issuing a permit. So you would be doing a lot of work just to do move latter.

There is a ready made business plan for a small distillery. The guy from ADI has one built (Bill Owens).

It aint free. They also have a forum over there. Much more designed for a legit micro distillery, than for people doing home distillation. They do not shun home distillers (just like we do not shun micro-distilleries), however, each group plays to its own strengths.

The small business administration has a business plan building tutorial on their website: http://www.sba.gov/training/businessplanning/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow . This is a template, but you have to do the legwork. Reading someone elses business plan is a good familiarization tool, but every situation is differant, like target market, start up costs, projected monthly/ yearly fees, state requirements, bond fees, insurance requirements,... I could go on for a while as I am going through it myself. I would suggest starting here and finding your local SBA office and BEG for help. Your local chamber of commerse will help A LOT also. Good luck!
