why is the top part of your column painted? It makes me wonder what it is made of also? What is it made of?

i see black rubber at the top thats a big NO NO.
and if the column made of pvc that even worst.

Nice simple mod there spud. I've used that type of still before and was prob the best performing "store brought" still I've used.
Will be interesting to see how it run's now. Any reason for the extra height in the tower on a reflux head for stripping run's only??

Yeah would be interesting. You'll have to post some result's as a friend of mine has this unit and may look at doing the same.
