After distillation, when I add water the spirits turn cloudy

I am using a basic sugar wash with triple distilled turbo yeast ( I know, i should get off that stuff, but it's just my second batch)

Anyways, My still basically so far I have been able to hit 77% abv, but when I cut it down to 50% or 40 % with water it turns cloudly.

Any Ideas,

I have a reflux still the sprints seems OK, i have a bit of a off flavor I believe, but then again I don't really know what clean neutral spirits smell like or taste.

Any help would be appreciated.

Licquyd, I had the same problems on my first couple runs, then I started understand cuts better by smell and color, taste. and found when get near the tails and add water to it turn cloudy. the last run I did took the middle of hearts to see if I added water if turned cloudy it did not, then added water to the tails and it turned cloudy.

That is true GG, but well water, or even tap water that has a lot of minerals will also turn the distillate cloudy. When this happened to me, I bought some distilled water. No more cloudy stuff.

I was using bottled water.

I still don't understand the foreshots, heads, hearts, and tails too well, I've been reading and reading but I can't find a really good article.

ive been told that you only cut likker with the water that you used to make your mash with, if that doesnt work try making better cuts or use distilled water and see if that doesnt help, using the water i used to make my mash with is what worked for me...

dilute and run one more time, but this time try to hit a average that you want to age /drink at.
this will do two things ,it will remove some more of the "off taste" and you wont have to add water.
