Back in the 70’s I had this on vinyl. Band of Gypsies was Hendrix’s best-selling album next to ‘Are You Experienced’.

In my mind this album is where Jimi started to drift helping to inspire a new music scene. He had left “The Experience” and hooked up with his new band mates and started to develop a more funky feel. Backup singers and such :wink:
It’s true James Brown had been around since the 50’s.
Lord only knows what Jimi would have come up with given some more time… C’est la vie
