sodium carbonate

Hi again mentors, seems I can't go to far without running into a big fat question mark over my head like I'm in a cartoon. I have done three stripping runs so far with great success. I love it.
Yesterday I bought some sodium carbonate added it to one gallon of my low wines expecting it to go into solution but it clumped on the bottom of the jar. Is this normal or do I have the wrong product
