2nd run

after my first strip run I have been doing some reading about the correct way to do proceed with the 2nd distillation
and cant find an explanation why I am suppose to dilute my product before I make my final spirit run. It seems to me it wouls make a weeker end product am I wrong? Please advise Would it be dangerous to put 80 proof or stronger back into a pot still to clean it up (taste and strength)?
