Tinned fruit wash?

I don't seem to have access to cheap or free fresh fruits like many people on this site, I just got a lot of blackberries and elderberries this autumn which I am using but that's about it! however I can run down to tesco and get tinned peaches, strawberries, pineapple etc for about 70p per kilo. Has anyone tried fruit brandy from tinned fruit before? Do you get good results? They come in sugary syrup which would definitely provide the alcohol kick!!
