It is amazing at how fast this forum is growing... There is more interest in the hobby than I would have ever imagined.. by watching how many join each day I know it wont be long.

It is amazing. I keep thinking that at some time, we will top out, that there are simply not that many more people willing to do the WORK needed to produce there own. There only can be so many at any one time. However, we do keep growing, AND it seems growing faster and faster.

I bet we break 7k prior to end of year.

There have been 145 new members that have joined the forum just in October 2010.

There were 230 new members that joined in all of October 2009.

Home distilling is going to explode (in a good way) in the next couple of years.

Yep, it's good to see that we're holding our own all the time. Many members have stopped posting and it will continue that way hopefully - or we'd never be able to log in - but they are stil lout ther doing the stuff they learnt HERE. Makes one feel proud that we all have helped them along the way.

We might have 6500 members but how many have been active in the last 12-24? I think 60 to 70% arent with us anymore. Just my guess though.

Go hd love it

Remember just because folks are not posting, we never know how many are lurking around and reading.

I posted some statistics several months back that broke down how many members fell within certain parameters... As I recall, almost half of the registered members have either zero or one post...

Currently:
30 members with over 1000 posts
4 members with over 2000 posts
5 members with over 3000 posts
3 members with over 5000 posts
1 member with over 6000 posts (Dnderhead) (I've been too busy to catch up to him in recent weeks. Not that it's a competition.)

That's the breakdown of the top 30 posters... All registered members can check the member post statistics if they are so inclined...

3060 of the members have zero posts. Lots of lurkers.
3769 of the members have one or less posts.
That's more than half of the register members.

Husker, you mention the amount of work it takes. I used to comment on the amount of work my mother-in-law spent in her garden, her response to me was always if it's fun and you enjoy it then it's not work. Although fairly new to this hobby, building and producing have been a great joy for me. Another benefit has been researching new ideas to improve what I do and also collecting old unusual bottles, and items that I can fabricate into something useful. This has brought a new dimension into retirement, keeping my mind and body busy! Thanks to everyone that posts, many minds make for creative and new ideas that spark other ideas. I used to think that R & D stood for Research and Development, but now I think it stands for Rob and Duplicate. I say this in a good way as duplication is the best form of flattery plus I think as you duplicate you modify and through modification comes new ideas! Wow how did I ever get on this bandwagon? I'll sign off now!
