On my fifth wash and I'm in the habit of stopping by walmart/winco on my way home from work and pick up a 10# bag and a 6 pack of beer on Friday. They both have generic sugar for under 45 cents a pound if you buy 5#, 10# or 25#, and that's even cheaper than costco around here.

I have the room to drop a pallet if I wanted, but that just seems like too damn much hassle. Wouldn't take that much if it was free. I don't want to explain a stack of sugar sacks to company, or jeez if the damn ants got into it.

Sugar is just to damn expensive here. If I'm down south or up in Portland I'll get 30 Lb or so but generally I like to make my sugar from starch, It's 1/4 of the price.

i buy 50lbs at a crack. yeah you get the stink eye, but screw em. i like to bake cookies.

At our wal mart the 10 ound bag runs a few cents cheaper that all the larger sizes. i wait till i see sugar a few cwnts cheaper any where thar i buy 40 or 50 pounds-- i really get a kick out of the new 4 pound bags-- at first it looks cheap lol lol

I am buying on an as needed/biweekly sort of bases.

I can get the grocery manager to order a case of the panela. But then I have to put it somewhere. Enter the missus.

Haven't bought plain white table sugar in a while. But my observation is the same as Scotty's in that the larger 25-30 lb saks are more spendy per pound than the smaller 10lb or less sizes.

Weekly trip to the store ain't bad......Perty girls commin from the beach everywhere round here.

I usually get 25 kg at the supermarket when it's at the right price. If they don't like it they don't have to take my money, I'll drive to to next town sooner ot later, but I never have any problems.

I go to the local woolies and buy 20 kg in 2 -3 kg bags, it's 80c a kg.

Buy my sugar at a wholesaler near by where a lot of restaurants, hotels and small convenience stores get supplies. Get it in 20kg bags. Last time purchased 40kg , $17.35 CDN per 20kg bag good price for around here.

2x3kg bags of pure white an 2x2kg bags of raw in the weekly supamarket shoppin gets me pissed an wife happy most nights an don't raise no eybrows.

Slabs of coke pepsi an sodawater may raise more eyebrows in genuine concern for our health.

We would buy the 25 lb bags of sugar at Sam's while the grandkids were here in the summer for Koolaid.
Sam's idea is bigger is better and cheaper.
Still haven't figured out why them grandkids were always bouncing off the walls???

Round here its same price no matter what size bag you get, so I get 5lb bags when at Walmart. Its right at the end of the Gerber Isle, very convenient!!

I usually get the 10KG bag of white sugar when on sale out here on the west coast of Canada. On sale I can get it for $8.98 Canadian. The regualre price is $13.98, but I never see it at that price as it is always on sale someplace in between.

I just bought a big box of Kellogs Cornflakes for $6.99 - so out of those two purchases of about $15,I will get about 10 -12 lts of good drinking white dog which I think is a pretty good deal - about $1.50 a L - versus $38 a L store bought for commerical Vodka.

I stop at 3 different stores and buy 1-2 ten pound bags at each so I wind up with 40-50 pounds per shoping trip, I do alot of grain washes so sugar lasts a long time.

I usually buy 4 or 8 kilograms. Not much yet works out for me.

Wally world 25lb bags $11.48 and yeah they kinda look at you funny when you buy 2 or 3 bags and a couple jars of rapid rise yeast ,but i make alot of homemade sweet bread,just wish they sold sweetfeed too so the horses would be happy)-er

out here on the left coast Walmart sells sweet feed in a couple of varieties, not cheap, about 10-12 bucks for a 40 pound bag. The store is close to my house, so very convenient, I bought the sweet feed last week and have a batch brewing now, hope to run it next week.

I usually buy 2 25lb sacks @ about 11 bucks each every two weeks or so. I mainly push neutrals & do a lot of Schnapps and flavored liqueurs.

We have bulk food stores around here called Grocery outlet. Everything there is in large quantities. 100 lb sacks of rice, 5 gallon ketchup etc. I buy a 50 lb sack of sugar for about $25. They have several brands to choose from. They don’t even look at you funny, everybody is buying bulk something.

We go though 10 lbs a week in our sweet tea.

I buy two 50# bags of sugar at a time. When asked (which is seldom) I tell them that it's for my grandson's ant farm.

When I price the sugar here, I found usually the 4 & 5 sometimes 10 lb bags are cheaper per pound than the 25 lb and larger. If it's on sale I buy it, always go down the sugar and yeast section when in the store to price it. If it is regular price I usually pick up a 4 or 5 lb bag each week. If it's on sale I stock up! Also I find the smaller sizes easier to work and measure with my 6 gallon fermenting buckets.

I buy 20kg at a time, sure does make a lot of candy canes...

50# bags till I get tired of carrying them no just 2 at a time. I have a friend that owns a restaurant, he orders it for me at a good price.

When anyone says anything about buying a lot of sugar and yeast I always tell em its for a church bake sale seems to calm em down fast.
