Where to buy 3 ring burners ? ? ?

Post by NineInchNails »

I have been searching high and low for a place to purchase a 4 ring burner like shown in the photo below:

Image

So far all I've found are these links and neither show any prices or a way to order them:
http://plumbing.bromic.com.au/browse1.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
http://www.auscrown.com/ringburner.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Where did you buy yours? Do you know of any other places to buy them? I'm in the US, but I'll pay the shipping to get one because I've read that no place in the US carries them.

I thought about buying one of those Bayou Banjo burners, but I'm looking for a low sitting burner with precise control more so than a burner that just brings me to boil quickly. Any info on where to get one of these 3 or 4 ring burners would be greatly appreciated.

I just got back from China on business... across the street from our factory is a small store that sells a bunch of random crap (flip-flops, toothepaste, food, etc)... I saw the nicest 4 ring burner for 68RMB ($10.00 USD)! I didnt have enough room in my suitcase and our factory would not put it in the container... Next time I'm there, I'm gonna buy it!

Locally, I dont know what to tell you... did you check ebay?

That's a shame! I checked ebay, but the only listings I've seen is on http://cgi.ebay.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow for $95 not including shipping. I'll hit them up to see if they would ship to the US as a last resort because there's a thread here where someone says they ordered a 3 ring burner for $54.00

ROD-

You are spot on.... In China they cook everything over very high heat... beef, pork, chicken, dog... the eletric woks we use in the US are probably 1/10th the heat. Even cast iron woks over a standard natural gas burner is no where near that heat...

I think that's why I saw the burner in China for 10 bucks! I would bet that in a "china-town" you could find a burner... It would be a hunt, but probably fun at the same time... You may even find the missing dog that you saw pictures of on all the telephone poles!

All of those links sell a totally diferent type of burner.

I am looking for a 3 or 4 ring cast iron burner. Each burner ring has its own control valve.

I do know of a at least one Oriental Market that I could check out. Last time I was there they seemed to carry grocery type items though. I dont' recall them having much of anything in the way of hardware. I'll definitely check it out though.

Ahhh I see that one. What boggles me is that it shows 3 control valves, but only advertises it as a 2 ring burner. Strange.

I am still stubbornly seeking out a 3 or 4 ring cast iron burner like this one:
Image

Ya got to admit though ... $744.62 for the same burner I'm looking for is a bit rediculous. I'd quite happily pay $150.00 for one before I'd pay even 1/2 what mcmaster wants for one. Makes me want to save $600.00 just to spite them.

I'm sure I'm not the ONLY one who has tried to find these 3 and 4 ring low pressure propane burners. Guys don't think I haven't done my homework. I've spent many hours searching the net and have even sent out a few PMs to people who have posted pics of their 3 & 4 ring burners to find out where they bought them. That's all I want to know ... where you bought your 3 or 4 ring burner ?

Nineinchnails, look close at the picture and you can see that the inner ring is actually divided into two rings, it uses the small holes on the inside of the ring as a seperate burner from the holes on the outside bevel of the same ring. There is another thread on this burner by a member named Whitedog if you are interested, and yes $700.00 + is an insane price even if it would have been a stainless burner, I don't blame you for having sticker shock on that one, it flipped my ears as well. Mud

I do already know about that burner. I've shopped that one  That one is 35,000 BTU. The one that Mud Mechanik listed at mcmaster is supposedly over 70,000 BTU.

Like I said ... Don't think I haven't done my homework. I've searched the net, searched the forums and am ONLY trying to find out where you bought your 3 or 4 ring burner that looks like the one shown below:
Image

I have shopped around, located all the different types of burners, I've compared prices, I've compared BTUs and what I'm interested in is where you bought your 3 or 4 ring burner that looks like the one shown below:
Image

I live in the US. I totally know that no one stocks them in the US. I've said before that I do not mind paying the shipping. I've read that some have paid as low as $54 for a 3 ring burner ... BUT FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST ... WHERE DID YOU BUY IT?

Thanks for the offer Grumpy, I do appreciate it. I contacted them through their website and asked them if they would mail this item and what the cost would be. Hopefully they will just mail it out and I won’t need to take you up on your offer.

So far this is the 1st website I've seen that actually lists a price for the 3 ring burner. I'll let you guys know what they say if they respond.

So Grumpy, how has your 3 ring burner been treating you? Do you think it’s worth my efforts considering all the other options out there?

I’ve only heard one negative remark in my searches. One guy on the forum said he had flames coming out of the valves on 4 occasions. He said his valves leak and he would give me his burner if I picked it up.

Somewhere on this forum I saw a picture-and-message about using the burner from a hot water system.
When I saw it I kicked myself because we have a failed HWS amongst our trash, the only thing wrong with it was that the anode had completely crumbled away.
(That's a thingy that sticks down into the tank from the top, something about preventing corrosion in the tank... I think. Anyway it's important so we had to get the HWS replaced.)

It took my plumber supply store AGES to get the three-ring burner, can't remember the price, might have been a bit over or under a hundred dollars; and I already HAD what I needed.

Damn!

So I am quite sure if you get the burner off an INDUSTRIAL or very large domestic HWS it will do the job fine, without paying international freight costs.
Probably cost nothing or nearly nothing; might get one off a plumber or someone like me who had to replace their HWS.
Just be sure it suits your gas supply, either bottled gas or natural gas. Your plumber can probably change the jet or whatever if it is the wrong type.

in all honesty nope ( considering the cost of shipping ) , it is popular here it is because of its cheep price but amongst many aussie home beer brewers the jet burners are a favorite as well
thing is no matter what burner you buy / build as long as it is big enough for your needs you have to learn how to drive it just like a new stil

I agree with Baker that for sure, you can find one on these shores, but you'll need to look into a place that supplies industrial or at least commercial places. IE: talk to whoever services the restaurants in your area. The larger restaurants are the places that will use larger burners, as will glass blowers, blacksmiths/welding shops, etc... But my money on an easy find is with the restaurant folks; they use massive amounts of heat! Don't think that they bring 100(or 1,000) gallons of soup to a boil using a wimpy little 35,000 BTU burners.

Thanks guys. I know that you are all giving me your thoughts based on your actual hands on experience. I understand it and I appreciate it. I also want to thank all the others who were listing links to other types/styles of what are likely perfectly adequate burners  I was ONLY on a mission to find a source for a 3-4 ring burner that should ship one to me. Once I knew the price including shipping ... I could then make a decision as to whether or not it is practical.

I’ve been receiving responses to my overseas inquiries and I’ll let you know how it goes once I read them all. Some need more info from me and others have flat out denied sending them. Those that flat out denied used the same legal terminology stating basically that they cannot sell these burners out of the country.

I have been seriously considering a Banjo burner, one of their longer hoses, their 0-30psi adjustable regulator and control valve. I can make my own low profile frame (car rim or my own shroud) like some of you guys were saying. Total cost should be a bit under $100.00 or a bit more including the cost of shipping.

Hopefully the shipping cost for a 3 or 4 ring burner is not excessive.

I know and you guys are GREAT for offering. I've had a few offers too. I just want to lock down at least a single source that also provides a shipping cost.

So far in all my searches I have not found a SINGLE instance where someone has posted (from the US) where they bought one and what it cost them to receive it. That is the reason I started this thread and hopefully I will succeed in at least providing a price + shipping (at least to my location). If the shipping is ridiculously expensive then that would just be impractical for most of us. I can't imagine that a vendor would tack on a ton to the actual shipping costs, but ya never know.

IF I do get a shipping price ... and any of you guys wish to obtain an 'actual' shipping cost to compare then that would be wonderful to post as a comparison.
