I'm Back Again

Finally moved to our new house and got my workshop done, all been pretty easy going so far and no real problems.
Got the flute build on the new 9' x 3' work bench and might even have a crack at some soldering tomorrow, am yet to work out what and how to use for building the sight glasses but will think of something when the time comes.
Got the results back from my CT scan and will be around for a bit longer to annoy you lot, not too sure exactly what's wrong but it aint cancer, it looks like my right kidney is fucked and will know more after more tests on monday.
Great to be settled in the new pad, you should see the view from my stilling area
Cheers.

I am currently building a flute for a member, and for sight glass fittings I manage to get some fittings from the plumbers merchant, they are basically a threaded brass tube and you get other fittings with an outer thread to fit, if you screw one in the end which is going to be the base of the fitting and contour this to sit on the 4"tube, with the second part screwed in it forms a stop for the glass to sit on, the fitting can be then surface mounted on the tube which then gives a nice wide base to solder. Another fitting with an external screw can then be screwed into the front of the fitting to secure the glass. I hope it makes sense, it does to me.

Once the fittings are mounted on the 4" you can cut the holes through the fitting with an apropriate size hole saw, also it means you can flood the joint with solder from the inside of the fitting prior to cutting the hole.

Welcome back AN.
Sure would like to get a shirt with DILLIGAF across the front of it overlayed with a nice tropical beach scene. I'd wear this to work every day.

AN, sorry to hear about the kidneys. I too have kidneys that are fubared. Between the 2 i have basically one. Docs say I shouldnt be drinking anything other than water. So i just distill my wine and beer to help purify my "water". If its a clear drink it classifys as "water" right?
Welcome back and continue to annoy us.!

Now that puzzles me.
There is a vehicle in our town with that 'written' on it and I have no idea of its significance.

Hi Austin,
Nice to hear the good news about the cancer, you will have to put more water with your grog to help your kidneys.
Good Luck

Hey all and thanks for the well wishes, it's been a bit of a worry but it's not over just yet.
Anyway, DILLIGAF has been my attitude for many years now, it's my way of dealing with shit I dont like.
On a better note my stilling workshop is fuggen awesome, just put in a 1000 litre tank for my cooling water and plumbed it into the shed. Got it all sorted now and will be running a rum wash tomorrow I saved from the other house, and now have room to oak my UJSM
Got my flute out on the bench today and put it all together with the tri clamps (thanks kiwi) and made a list of bits I need to finish it off, ordered the 3/8 stainless threaded rod, nuts n washers to hold the bubble plates that I will have tomorrow, just thinking about the plate design and not too sure just yet but will more than likely go for OD's plate setup for now.
Oh and did I mention that you should see the view from my stillin area?
Cheers.

It rains a fair bit here, the climate is really good where I am.
The clamps are great kiwi, they fit nice and snug over the 4" pipe.... perfect!
Here's a better shot of the view from my stillin deck.
Oh yeah here's a pic for Kentucky Shiner of my cooling tank
It's stocked with Bass, Catfish, Barramundi and redclaw crayfish
Cheers.

Really? I've had to expand my 4" copper pipe to go over them. Interesting.
