Barley Mash using Ultra Pure Still

Hi All,
I am an all-grain (beer) brewer but have always wanted to make a scotch or whiskey using grain instead of relying on essences.
I have access to a pure ultra still (reflux) and was wondering how i would go about using this as a 'pot still' by removing the metal scourer material from the column?
For an 18lt wash
Mash 4kg of BB ale malt at 65c with a eff of 80% should get a gravity of about 1053 and use a neutral yeast like wyeast 1056 to ferment out to about 1010.. should yield about 6% ABV.
Doing this would i be able to get some grain flavour into the spirit?
