just wondering what everyone pulling out on there pots...

I just ran a batch of mollases sugar rum thats been sitting waiting for 2 months while i was in romania, anyway its only a 1 gallon batch as i have spare time on my hands n make it a bottle or so at a time, i do intend to get larger so i can age some tho,,, anyways

first 400ml or so came at 70%
200ml @ 63
200ml @ 56
200ml @ 40
100ml @35

these figures are aprrox apart from the first 400ml which surprised me final strength came out at 57% and i cut it down to a drinkable 40%

The amount of output n the strength was a big surprise to me.

what are u guys averaging?

The answer to your question will vary form one pot still to the next. Was that single run rum? 70% is pretty high, I'd guess you have a short column on your still before the condenser.

Hi Brett,
I dont' know if you have seen this little calculator on the homedistiller.org site, but I found it really helpful: http://homedistiller.org/calcs/pot_calc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Cheers,
J

i just done my 2nd ever run yesterday
i was collecting in empty stubbies i got roughly from about 10 liters of sugar/water wash:
put 100ml aside
1st 375ml 75%
2nd 375ml 70%
3rd 375ml 60%
4th 375ml 65%
5th 375ml 55%
6th 375ml 40%
stopped collecting
these are very rough guesses caus the spirit was warm
