I've bought several bottles of it. It's not quite as smooth as some of the top shelf brandies but the flavor is outstanding along with the presentation. It's definitely worth more than twenty three dollars for the bottle. I live right near Lenoir. After trying it out, I decided to meet the distiller and he let me take a look at his still. He's a man that definitely has a passion for good liquor. Carriage House is only his first, as far as I know, but as long as he keeps putting out liquor that good he'll be rich in no time.

That guy's a friend of my wife - I've got to go check out his place. Maybe he'll offer me some tips. Apples are going for ~$2/bushel in Apple City (aka Taylorsville), near Lenoir. I'm wanting to try some apple brandy.

I tried it last night and was very disappointed. I like apple brandy and this effort would never be my first choice. It has only a faint apple aroma and it is dark and harsh. In my opinion the best US made apple brandy is made by Laird. But even Laird's apple brandy would be my second choice if any of the apple brandys from Normandy - Northern France - were available. Decent apple brandys are simply not available in NC with the state store system.

I toured this distillery last weekend. The distiller was great, and the wife and I spent about 1-1/2 hours looking around and talking about their process. He opened a new bottle for us, and we had a few samples (luckily, it was only a block to the Honduran restaurant where we were having dinner). He also gave os a sample of their new product - Strawberry infused Apple Brandy. They hadn't bottled any yet, but were planning to this week. It was pretty good - very sweet.

Anyway, they're nice folks. Stop by if you're in the area.
