Thermometer placement in bokakob still

Was wondering if anyone had any advice on the placement of the thermometer for a 1.5" bokakob still. I was guessing between the slant plates, but the plans I am going off has it in the middle of the steel wool column.

Yea, you know under the slant plates. The packing column.

Yes, the thermometer goes between the slant plates and centered to the column.

As far as "steel wool" I hope you mean stainless steel wool, a.k.a. stainless pot scrubbers.
