What do other people think.
Is there a difference between the two?

Craft??? As in hobby?
Hobby = I get to make whatever suits me, to include the kitchen sink and no matter the cost, flush it down the toilet if I don't like it.

Micro = Money, money, money. And if that don't come in. Micro is a broke hobby distiller with a license.

I agree with ArkyJ...micro stillers are just small commercial stillers. 'Crafted' is a word used by many of the commercial stillers.

A local micro stiller here was caught and punished not too severely for buying barrels of cheepo whiskey and simply bottling it in small overpriced bottles along with all the micro jargon and fancy labels. He had a shiny copper still on show and claimed all the whiskey came from that still. Because he was licensed his punishment was only for false advertising. He sold out to a bottleshop chain and has probably moved on to a bigger and better scam. I have to admit he was a dedicated hard worker, and sweet talker, who got things done that few would try to do...but it was all about moneymoneymoney.

The commercial 'judges' and the medals they award are all part of the industrial scene. They have a huge vocabulary and they never do the hangover test.

Hobby stillers have few words to go by. Your own taste sensation and absence of hangover shouts out "Triple gold and platinum", yet we must remain quiet and enjoy in secret.

In my view it is a quality issue. Micro distilleries are just small versions of a big commercial outfit. Craft distillers on the other hand are trying to get a top end product - and don't realy care if it is more expensive.

I like drinking Islay malt - even if it is more expensive. Of course the other side of the coin is that possibly your favourite drink is real exclusive. You just can't get it unless you do it yourself.

Either works for me. :)
