Hey guys, wanted to first off say thanks so much.. There's so much great info on these forums/parent site. I've been studying it for the past 3 weeks or so, and have learned a great deal. I'm from Alabama (yep another bama boy.. Roll Tide). I've worked in kitchens since i was 16, and i have also been through culinary school so this hobby naturally is very interesting to me. I just loaded up my fermenter for the first time with DWWG 6gal recipe. I also purchased a reflux/pot still from brewhaus- Essential Extractor Pro Series II 7.5gal kettle along with several other necessities. I didn't buy a hot plate I feel like a 1500w hot plate isn't the best option to heat this particular kettle i'm thinking about adding an internal heat element(ideas?). Anyways, I just wanted to say Hi and thanks for all the information yall have been a great help.

Lotsa ideas on the element. get yourself a 1" stainless bung, weld it in about 1" off the bottom. screw in a standard waterheater element, size of your choosing. Just make sure you set up the electrical control to handle your element size safely.
