Southern Comfort - or something like it

Post by WeeStiller »

I went further on experimenting with dried tangerine peels. I soaked the dried peel of one tangerine in some two months aged All Bran whiskey et voila.... it smelled and tasted like Southern Comfort..... I added some more pure All Bran whiskey to mask the tangerine bitterness and to enhance the whiskey flavor and added a little bit of sugar syrup to sweeten it. Very nice on the rocks!

Here's my recipe for 1 liter:

0,36 l all bran whiskey @ 58% with dried peels of one tangerine - macerate three days
0,36 l AB whiskey @ 58% straight
0,025 l Sugar syrup
0,23 l water

Total abv 42%

Since I live at 53 degrees North, I labelled the bottle "Northern Comfort".
