If choosing favorite as opposed to best I would have to say "High Plains Drifter." The concept of dark revenge is intriguing.

the good the bad and the ugly. the dodgy soudtrack makes it unique.

"Unforgiven" Staring Clint Eastwood. The best shootout scene ever.

Unforgiven had great potential to take my personal number one. But Mr. Eastwood (who is famous for staying on budget) got it so right with most of the movie,,just missed on a couple of spots that coulda made it more compelling..
Jean Hackman was very dispicable,,just brilliant.
Great movie.

"Once Upon A Time In The West." A spaghetti western with Henry Fonda playing against type as the evilest sum-bitch you can imagine. Dark, very dark.

Unforgiven for me. The scene where Clint hits the bottle, after hearing about Neds murder. Also when he's about to kill Little Bill. Two most awesome western movie scenes ever in my mind. Love all of Clints westerns though.

Yup,,thats the scene that nearly made it my #1.
Not ego driven or bragadocious like Little Bill at all....Much more direct and matter of fact.
Much more than Little Bill by a longshot.

Anyone watched Deadwood?
It's raw, it's brutal, but it gives a real feel for what the West might have been like.
Exaggerated of course and yet.........
