Using jars for moonshine.

I've seen a lot now pictures of moonshine in jars. Thats fine with me and I like how it looks in a jar but doesnt it mess when trying to pour that moonshine out? As jars dont have 'mouths' like other beakers do. And if you want to share with a friend some you wouldnt both drink out of the same jar. Mostly. As I find when pouring liquid out of jars the liquid often goes everywhere in the general direction youre tilting it in.

regards

Nothing wrong with a pass-around jar... It's not like you're gonna drink the whole jar yourself... Plus the alcohol will kill any possible germs that might otherwise be passed around... But, no, it's not easy to pour from a jar into a shot glass...

I've always kept mine in mason jars. Lot cheaper than buyin' bottles. Spillin' a little is part of the ritual. I like ta keep the angels happy.

My hands are rock steady, I can line up a row of shot glasses and not lose to much when poring from a jar.

The solution to the problem isn't to put it in a bottle, what you need are bigger shot glasses. :) Besides how would you get it into the bottle?

Jars are for finding the hearts. I prefer 375ml beer bottles as jars. When found, the hearts go into a carboy and I have 2l, 3L and 5L carboys waiting.

Using jars for finding the hearts is a very good idea.

That's my philosophy as well rattl-b. I always like to see a little slosh and spill. Seems to give me a bit of a nostalgic feel. I do keep liquor put up in 1 gallon glass. My liquor locker has the bottles in a couple of rows. I like to open to two doors at the same time with a quick swing. The aroma comes out and settles over you. Smells awesome. Taste even awesomerer.
