How'd that go ?

Pretty easy actually. I hard soldered five 5’, 3/8” dia soft tubes into a piece of 1”. Clamped a piece of pipe into a vise that the end would fit into, Spread them like a girl,,, Inserted a 1” od pipe in the center and started winding. When I got near the end I pulled the center tubing and finished each tube by hand and slid another piece of 1” over them. After hard soldering I cut the remainder off.

The glass was easy and cheap. Less than $20 For a 5’ piece that makes three covers.
It is cheaper than copper to do. ( I did break one during mock up) I still have one left if I screw up.

I am an artist by trade. i could not make this without treating it like a piece of art.

The martini glass shapes are the valve handles. I polished the brass valves down too far the first time and they leaked. LOL. Had to buy another set.

Cold in water is split there. Bottom valve goes down the graham. Top valve goes up to the dephlag. I spent a whole day mocking up the cooling lines to get the look that I wanted.

All the other polished brass parts was stuff that I had laying around. Just happened to have some 5/8 tubing that matched copper size so I had to use it.

Mud flap girl is from a sheet of paper thin brass that I got when I had to make a new carburetor float for my antique car. I printed the image on label paper then put two sided tape on the back before cutting her out with scissors. I dont know if it will stay when hot. I can always use tinning flux to solder her down if necessary.

I am going to put a topper on her. An eagle? Maybe a glass female?

I have more thin brass. What do guys think about thunderbolts on her back side?

I pressure tested the condensers before final assembly but still have to test the cooling lines and low pressure test the column to make sure my site glasses and lid don’t leak. I will get a couple more pictures up today!

Thanks for the compliments guys. After reading so many flute threads I agreed with Dan that Flutes are pieces of art.
I could see that OD and KS watched every build like proud fathers waiting for the birth. I had big shoes to fill. It took me weeks to build.
I hope your proud OD. Your granddaughter is a pretty girl.

Mash, sorry to confuse, I forget everyone is not a geezer into Jazz/Rock/Fusion. Stanley was/is one of the monster bass players of the jazz rock fusion genre. So was Jaco, who sadly passed away, way too young in 1987. In a biography of Jaco , Stanley was asked to comment, that is where the quote comes from.

Okay, thunderbolts it is!

Finished my parot and a few details. I think she is ready for a test run. The parot slips on to the condensor than you rotate it so the vent tube holds it in place.

She sure is Sexy MR...
