hi all, i have been browsing and posting a bit and finally got around to the welcome centre.
i have been brewing beer for many years and in the last 2 i have moved to all grain beer brewing, purchased corny kegs taps mash tun etc. and making some pretty decent beer. now my attention has turned to spirits. and heres the new girl in my life.
stillwelc.jpg
she may be a little unorthodox but give her a litre of water a minute, 1300 watts and she'll spit out 96% only dropping to 94% in tails/shutdown. now that ive got neutral sorted, i'm turning my atention to recipes, i have a rum brew at moment that i'm looking forward too, and will be looking at mashing grain and the use of dunder in the near future, plus feasting my eyes on mash rookies flute the other day sure gives me something to aspire to. cheers all.

Your rig looks like a basic mesh packed LM with a cold finger added for more reflux. 96% Wow. Nice job. Is that insulation around the middle? I could never get more than 85% out of mine and was considering adding a cold finger when I decided to jump up to a flute. Thanks for the compliment on my Sexy Girl Flute. I copied OD's and KS's plate design. You are welcome to copy my fancy stuff. I hope it inspires others to build artful designs.

shes a little different, probably more cm than lm. it was built on a budget, 1 metre of 40mm pipe(main column) 1 metre 13mm+1 metre 19mm(condensor), and about 8 metres of pvc piping, plus elbows solder packers etc. the insulation around middle is in fact the pvc tube which only removes a small amount of heat so actually does double as insulation. and the top isnt a cold finger as such but a bit of 13mm pipe soldered onto top cap, i call it a cold cap. its a fluke that it produces 96%, i didnt think id get near that territory. i set the water flow and power and no further adjustment needed for entire run, just keep changing bottles. now im working on lowering % for a rum brew. i love that shotgun condensor on sexy girl(you named her yet?), gotta get me one of those.
