Great Grandfather

Well, it finally happened. Yesterday I became a great grand father. Four children, ten grandies and now one great grandy.
I know I'm supposed to be joyous and thankfull, but I worry about the poor little bugger. Fancy being born in a world where hate and war has become second nature, climate change is denied by arsehole career politicians and supported by greedy skeptics while climate scientists are denigrated as luddites and the accumulation of wealth overides compassion for the less fortunate. It's a scarey scenario.
I can only hope that someday, somebody, somewhere will be able to show, and huminity see, that resources are not an infinite commodity, war solves nothing, greed doesn't bring happiness and that compassion doesn't cost much, and that climate change is real.
Then I can be thankfull and joyous.
Stay Safe

Without someone to point them in the right direction. They can't get there. Maybe your grand grandy will be that person?

Congrats to you and your grandchild.

Congrats BK - I'm sure you'll be a
great great-grandfather.
We all have benefited from having a curmudgeon or two in our immediate ancestry.
I'm definitely going to be considered to be one of the curmudgeons in my forthcoming grandchild's life.

The first autos ran on ethanol no worries - often bought at the farm gate. The IC engine will be around for a while even if not necessacerily in cars or in such numbers.

Getting cynical in your old age aren't ya Graham?

I've lost quite a bit of my faith in humanity lately as well but all we can do is look for the best in people and prepare for the worst. Not much we can do about the rest of it. Congratulations on the new arrival. Never got to meet any of my Great Grandpas. He's got a good one. Pick out a bottle of your best and put if up for him for his 21st birthday. It'll mean alot to him.

Congratulations Blanik: Worry about what you control and give that little one all the love you can muster. This is the best world that I've ever seen.
Bull.

Some great advice, I am a grandfather however my daughter was 33 before she had her first and only child. I love my granddaughter and all we can do is make life as safe as possible. We probably spoil her a bit but we also work with her parents to teach right from wrong. We made it through several wars and hopefully our kids, grandkids, great grandkids will be smarter than us.

Congratulations, blanikdog... I only ever knew one of my great-grandparents, which is more than some ever get to know... It'll be a few more years before I, hopefully, enter that territory... Enjoy...
