I just found a petition on a web site for the legalization of home distilling. Is anybody familiar with this petition or the website? I haven't signed it yet because you never know about putting personal info on unknown websites but if you can shed some light on the subject.

I would not sign that petition with personal info...

IMO, HD's movement towards legalisation is silent enough not to bring unwanted attention and loud enough not to warrant concern from our respective governments. We practice safe home small scale distillation at an artizan level. Safety and upholding the side of the law forbidding sale has to be seen as paramount in our way forward to eventual legalisation.

I for one will not be signing this petition and would urge any of our members to do the same. The revenuers have it easy if we catalog 10,000 names and addresses into a database... Hell, they dont even have to come and look for you...

Fly low, because you never know...

hone stly if the government wants our names they can track everyone on of us on this forum down by our IP address. Pretty simple actually. I will probably sign it.

Besides, signing a petition with your name does not make a crime nor does is create probable cause to search your home or business for proof of a crime. Just ask how many people have been arrested for signing a petition to legalize marijuana. If you are worried about putting your real name then use a fake one.

Which is why online petitions carry as much water as a bucket made out of screen. But online petitions are great ways for spammers to get more email addies, especially hard to get 'targeted' addresses. buyer beware.
