Heres My Copper Funnel...

I'm getting ready to resume my Flute build after a very hectic couple of months.
Before I jumped right into the copper, I thought I would ease myself in gently and make copper funnel...
It 7" wide, tapers to ½" over 4" with a spout of ½" x 4". Used a half-flap seam and soft soldered inside and out as well as the spout...
So Here she is...
Made it in about an hour...
If you want the recipe just holler and I'll update the post with a template...
EDIT:
Heres the pdf... Note, its not to scale, but all sizes are relevant to the above funnel...

How big was the copper sheet at the start? I'd like you to post the template. I've been wanting to build one for a while now. How did you join the funnel to the pipe?
Thanks.
Bull.

The sheet was a scrap piece of a crappy copper water tank, 250mm (10") x 250mm (10").
Flared the ½" pipe at the end with a large cone shaped metal plumb bob I had and soldered it to the inside...
Was real easy to form and bend the crimps to hold the cone together with a pair of pliers...
I'll get the template uploaded and update the above thread soon Bull...

Nice work Samohon. Picked up quite a bit of bigger, odd-shaped pieces of copper from a chimney my father-in-law took down. Didn't have a clue what I was going to do with it just couldn't throw it out. Perhaps I just got my answer.
As always, your workmanship is terrific.

***Bump***
Just added the pdf for the funnel. This document is not to scale, it does'nt have to be.
Using all the measurements given will create the funnel in the piccies above...
Thanks all...

I have a 3D software called Rhinoceros and have done some layout work for Mash Rookie. If you give me the size you want I can quickly make a 3d model and the software allows me to do a roll out for a cut pattern. I would be willing to do this for you if you are serious about building a funnel. You will need to PM me and if the numbers get into the hundreds I may have to rescind the offer or make a one size model fits all and post it.
Edit: Just read a few threads down and looks like plans are already posted.

Hey!
Love the funnel - what gauge of copper did you use for this?
Also - where does one get it?

I get a lot of my small sheet copper from the local scrapyard. You usually pay by the pound.

This same technique- ever join two funnels big-end to big-end and build it into your column?

That, sir, is a badass funnel. Excellent craftsmanship. You could sell those for a pretty penny.

Made this funnel over the weekend. Left over copper sheet and pipe. 4in funnel tapers to 1in pipe. Fits nice and snug in carboy opening. Wish i would have seen the Half Flap Solder Joint by Samohon before construction. I used a rivet to hold the top part of funnel and then just overlap soldered. Half Flap Solder Joint would have been much cleaner. Will use it next time. Always practicing and improving thanks to everyone on this forum!
