I see that quite a few folks save their foreshots for parts cleaner, etc. I think I’d like to do the same thing and was wondering if a properly marked and easily identifiable plastic gasoline container would suffice? I really don’t like the idea of storing something so flammable in glass, this for what I consider obvious reasons. But, this also then brings up the question if a run of the mill plastic gas container is suitable or not. I’d be curious to know how others store their foreshots.

I use plastic vinegar bottles. They don't sit around for long but for storage they hold up well.

I keep mine in old glass pasta sauce jars with a skull and x-bones drawn on it and a lable identifying it as poison

I use a milk jug, it holds up fine.

i use metho bottles its got the use's as metho. and everyone knows you can't drink it.

Like RD, I use a 3L plastic milk jug with Foreshots written on the front...

I keep it in the garden shaed and I've never had any problems with it...

I keep mine in half gallon mason jars

Great, it looks like most common containers will work well. Aside from me not wanting to use glass myself, it has been hard to find glass containers, and paying retail is becoming cost prohibitive already.

If you choose to use plastic just make sure you do a test with a small amount rather than filling it to the rim from the get go... If it softens, discolors, or gets brittle, it's not suitable for storage... And remember that some newer plastics have a more rapid biodegradability schedule engineered in that older plastics did...

lots of stuff comes in cans like this, white gas, lots of solvents, and of all things alcohol. talk to someone at an auto body shop, they throw gallon solvent cans away daily. cob
