44 has got to be the width. Pretty damn narrow. He did not give up a ratio. I say it's gota be for an econo rail. I dont think they would use a dana in a funny car. Hell I’m just guessing. I have been away from the drag strip for over twenty years. Pumkin is what I carve with the neighbors grand kids.

Maybe UJ has a hot new girl friend named Dana. Come on UJ give it up !!

Am I close??

Not a bad front diff for a Jeep or a old corn binder scout.

And if her name is Dana and she has 44s we need pics. :lolno:

I'd say, How wide is it? And if it would fit my Dart I would ask how much you want for it.

Into the late 70's GM ran Dana 44's in their half ton 4X4's Then went to 8.5" corperate 10 bolts. Some light 3/4tons had Dana 44's with the large tapered hubs to make them look like a "60" from the outside. Couldn't tell you much about other manufacturers 'cause we only built Chevys for the mud. I believe jeep ran Dana's up to when Chrysler took them over, Don't know what they run now.

Bull.

My 1985 CJ7 came with an AMC 20 rear diff. In 1986 they ran out of them, during the last runs of the CJ Jeeps, so they started putting in the much stronger Dana 44's. I managed to get one and got rid of the AMC 20. Only 3.31's but I freeway drive a lot. Put a new posi carrier into it.

Sure, the Dana 60 is bigger, but this is the equivalent of a GM 12-bolt. I'm running the stock 6 cylinder, I really have no need for a Dana 60.

As for the front diff, Dana 30, I'd much rather have a Dana 44, but that takes work with the offset transfer case. Maybe in the future...

Here's a pic of it while I was transporting it.

The 44 is strong enough for anything you will likely throw at it. That is unless your rock crawling or mud slinging.
The Rubicons have 44s to keep em trail rated and the new model have electronic lockers which is sweet.

Me I'm a "real" Jeep fan in the order of the old Willys check out

I Had a 1972 Gladiator, cant remember if it was a j2000 or 4000? But it had a 60 rear, 44 upfront, Dantless 350, 9000lbs pto winch and got 8 miles to the gallon. Great truck, but fuel milage mad me sell it. Wished i could find another, and afford the gas.

So what do you do with your jeep UJ? Daily driver, mud, or rocks? Are you going to truss it out or just install it like it came?

Right now it's a daily driver but it's set up for off-road trails. It's a bumpy ride. I am not a rock crawler and I like mud but not bogging. Just muddy forest and 4x4 roads.

Hopefully I'll be able to park it soon and put more work into it. It needs some help up front and some transmission work. I am considering dumping the T5 for an AX15.

Nice I always liked the CJ7s. But I wish I still had my old scout. I loved that thing. I like to do a little of all of it. Give me a nice trail through the woods. That has a few nice mud holes and some rocky areas. I would be happy. But I can only have so many hobbies. So I'm told.
