Bazooka screen and cooked grain.

Post by Rocky_Creek »

I have had no problem with draining mash through the bazooka screen in the bottom of my fermenter. If I cook grain am I likely to produce some kind of goop that would clog it up?
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, and them's pretty good odds.

It's a stainless filter. Mine is about 1 1/2 inches by 12 inches. Goes instde the fermenter and strains the liquid when you drain the fermenter. About like screen wire.

Well if you siphon off the clear (dry ferment) and let what grains you have just drip (patience) for a while you should be OK. If the mesh is about like a door screen it'll be a very slow go if you let it all run through.

Tater posted some pictures awhile back in his cookie mash post that showed using a somewhat loose woven blanket. I think i'm gonna try that when my current grain mash is ready. My past mashes I don't think were completely done and I had onehellofatime gettin' em strained.

Pillow case myass!

Some stuff is likley to plug it up. ROLLED OATS AND RYE might be too smoshey to let the filter work. If you are doing a starch to sugar conversion before the mash goes into the fermenter, you should have less gummy starches to clog up your screen. Cornmeals and un-converted flour washes would probably be a nightmare.
Hey guys!!! Watch this.... OUCH!
