Limoncello. My first batch in several years. It's very nice, especially when drunk as a shot from a glass made from ice.

It's also a dangerous pitfall. Knowing there will be no suffering the next day tends to be an enabler to drink more frequently. Will power is a must.
I can see where this hobby could be a slippery slope for those with a predisposition for addiction.

A little barrel test bottle of jonny’s fight club bourbon @ about 90 proof. Approaching complex and multi dimensional - Rich caramel, toffee, honey, and biscuit with a hint of vanilla - triggering evocative nostalgia for the aromas of granny’s warm spice-box! The smoky char is now subtle and integrating very nicely.

I’m very happy with this now and still gonna sit on it in the barrel. I will finish this partial bottle sooner rather than later too!

Cheers!

A sixty nine year old brandy. It's very nice, but I might have been happier if they had taken a slightly larger heads cut.

Sorry, didn't know what I was doing back then, I was fermenting figs and the boiler was a used gas can.
But, I'm getting better at it, also the hair has grown back and the scars have mostly faded.

If they had been reading the forum, they would have known to leave the jars airing for a couple of days before they chose their cut :D

I'm having my take on Mezcal de Pechuga for a nightcap. It's very nice, but it has to be treated with respect. I usually only have one shot out of a silver candle holder that I bought for that purpose, but It's my birthday, so I'm treating myself to a second shot. :D

Happy Birthday Chris and maybe do two more shots followed by more clean neutral or similar... Ya know the cure for methanol is ethanol...

A glass of my unmalted wheat+oat whisky. After 6 months on lightly charred oak it's unexciting but soft and very drinkable.

Hops Gin & Tonic. It's also nice straight on ice. I have read that you shouldn't put hops through your still, but I don't believe it :D

AG sweetfeed from last fall. 6 months on oak. Starting to behave itself. Very smooth, lots of potential.
If in doubt leave it out.

Wow! How’d you preserve the cool maple smoke through the ferment/distillation process and come out into the glass?

They opened a "speakeasy" in the back of a clothing store here in my little town, so me and the missus went and checked it out last night.

That's awesome.
I love that covert speakeasy vibe.

Yeah it was a cool vibe, though it'd be better if it was a little less publicized.

It's biggest two down falls that really give it away is the smells from the kitchen woft from the back of the back room into the retail space out front, and the walls were thin so you could hear the goings-on in the back room

Never tried whisky with an ice water chaser.

I have taken my 38 open bottles of whiskey and have been doing a march madness blind head to head. had the wife give each a number and she is doing the pours so I don't know what I am comparing. I am almost down to the sweet sixteen. Been doing around 3 head to heads (6 whiskeys) each night
