Last question until I FINALLY try this thing for the first time !!! (Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash)

None of the wine store in my area have the distillers yeast and I sincerely don't know what bakers yeast is(is it the one used for bread and if so ... how will it survive in a 12%abv environment ?)

Can I just use a Lalvin 1118, should I order some bakers yeast online or bakers yeast ?

I don't know what yeast would be best.

Yes, bread making yeast. You can find it at the grocery store in the baking aisle. Sometimes it's in the refrigerator. Just ask. Members use it in washes as high a 14%, I've read. I'm sure 1118 would also work. It's a nice clean yeast and ferments dry. Good luck.

So if I have access to both the bakers yeast or the Lalvin 1118 ans since Wineos does not mention the 1118 in his post, I'm really curious to try the bakers but I'm afraid it wont take the wash to 12% ... this thing is bread yeast after all !!!??!!!

Health food stores, like GNC, do not sell active yeast but, rather, dead distillers yeast which is a byproduct of distilleries and breweries... Most grocery stores sell active bakers yeast either dry or in moistened cakes...

@ naeco,

There are Home Brewery Suppler on line stores that have Distillers Yeast. Suggest firing up Google Search (http://www.google.com) and conduct a search for a Home Brewery Suppler that has Distillers Yeast close to your location and order it from them.

Regards,
Coaster

if you are in the USA look in the baking aisle for fleishmann's. they have bakers yeast and active dry yeast. both seem to work fine.

Best bet on pounds of bakers yeast is ebay.
