Hi Jake,

Would love to come by, but it is too long a swim for me.

If you go, I would be very interested in learning from your experiences!

Odin.

I'll post a few notes. Any questions you might like to me to ask?

Hi Jake,

That would be fantastic! A number of questions come in mind ...

I understand that they distill every herb seperately, but what do they use as base for their alcohol? Grains, neutral? And how do they "marry" the different drinks into one. If I read the post it makes me feel like a blend or mixed drink. Is any ageing part of their final product in order to achieve this? What is their still design? I mean, they seem to be able to distill at 40 degrees using vacuum, if i understand correctly. The base drinks they distill, do they do that by maceration, hot/cold compounding? Or do they have the herb in question in the column, thus only creating contact between herb and vapour?

If you can get more insight, that would be a great trade of for the knowledge on gin on this forum, I think. Then again, the first goal should be that you have a great time, no?

Reading the posts ... I think you will!

Odin.

Even further for me to swim or I'd be there.

It's a long time since I spent a night of fireworks, bonfires burning the effigy of Guy Fawkes (although, in these days of government cutbacks and austerity, some may sympathize with his motivation :shh: ) and a good few drinks.

Please keep us posted JL.

LL,

Then I wish you at least a night with just some good drinks. That should be possible, no?

Good weekend to all of you. Mine starts ... well not in the best of ways. Dancing season is starting tonight. Now why did I say yes to my wife, when she asked me to come with her? :wtf:

Odin.

I'm sure it'll be lots of fun. Those are interesting questions Odin, there is some information on the Wikipedia entry for Sacred Microdistillery but I would certainly like to find out more.

Hi guys,

Just woke up an hour ago and started my spirit run (hot compounding) on the gin I have been preparing. Hope to finish around midday. Then another few days of rest and we are ready to go!

Odin.
