finally got my hands on a keg (almost crying of joy)

looking at half coupling and stuff
from what i read 1 inch is what i need to screw in a element?
but im looking around a bit "not much yet" and i see 17 inch long element
my keg does 14" width
more search found one for 14" tank

but its 1-3/8" dia. flange?

where can i find in canada element to fit in a 14" wide keg?

most element use 1 inch right?

any tip on choosing an element?

I use a 2400w solar water heater boost element, the element is copper in a sickle shape. It works well with my Flute and I don't need a regulator.

well thats from australia its not to be fitted on a half coupling "its a square flange" and its 17" long.

i need something for canada that will fit in a 14" keg.

I can send you one if you wish, the sickle style are a lot shorter because of the curve, mine cost $40, I would not have a clue what postage would be, it still has the 4 bolt fitting which I prefer as you don't have to get a fitting welded on the keg, just drill 4 holes and bolt it up with SS bolts.

is see you have home depot..they should have them..they do make some that are "folded"

with the square flange dont you need bolts inside because i dont want to cut the top of the keg open
i want to use tri-clamp.

if i want to weld half coupling on i should get 1 inch fitting right? for regular water heater element.

what about the type like chrome plated and stuff which kind?

Get a low density, Incoloy coated element. Sickle shaped if possible, or you can use 2 lower power elements.

im sorry if i ask a lot of question but the nearest homedeot or alike is 45min drive thats 1 and a half hour ride id like to know what im looking for.

Incoloy elements are pretty common here in Australia. Most electrical trade suppliers will have them in stock or can easily order them in.

Should say on the packet if it is Incoloy.

Incoloy is a kind of stainless steel, pretty tough. Lasts much longer than zinc coated or plain copper elements. It is a dull grey colour, sometimes darkish.

It is well worth the effort to find one, especially a low density one.

or buy one of shinner's triclamp caps. It is already tapped out to accept a standard water heater element. Then all ya need is a stainless furrel to weld to the keg.

thanks a lot hook i think i seen those in kettles at least i know what to look for,

and mule that was a question dont you need to put bolt inside for the square flange type?
or is it enough to drill a hole tap it and screw the bolt?

unmodified keg user cooking on propane how do you guys empty your kegs ?
siphon? or just flip it upside down?

i work in my basment no floor drain have to carry stuff to the first floor for drain
so goin without a drain is not wanted.

if i want a drain i guess i need to see a welder so guess ill get the threaded fitting for element has well.

didnt get the fitting yet still looking for best way to go

If I were to do it again. I would put the drain on the bottom. Not the side. And I will probably do that next chance I get.
