Hey everyone,
Been lurking for about a week and just wanted to check in properly. I recently got out of the Navy and moved to ST Louis. Going to school and working part time I've picked up some more spare time than what I had before so I decided that I would take up home distilling as a new hobby.
I already made one run of some high quality garbage. Like seriously bad stuff. Nothing poisonous (I only say this because the little amount that was consumed didnt harm anyone) but it had a really good taste and odor of playdough, and I assume this was from all the flour/water that I was using to seal up holes that just kept falling into the pot. I rushed into it. I just went out and bought some copper tube after reading a few websites, put some stuff in a bucket with water and waited. Then 2 weeks later I boiled it in a ghetto rigged pressure cooker.
Now I've found this place, and am reading more. And more. Then I'll get and idea or think about something, and I'll read some more.
I plan on making some type of valved reflux colum that's apartment sized, but finding anything above 2" pipe is proving difficult.
Anyways, it's good to be on board.
Brad

Welcome to the forum, a week is not much time in the reading stage at this site, we are dedicated to safety here so when you decide on the still to build you might want to post and ask for suggestions. I have a VM still and she works great. As far as an apartment sized still 2" pipe is more than adequate.

Rad's apartment still is a popular option.

Hi and welcome
If you find sweet smelly stuff like nailpolish remover at the start of the run, then throw that part away. It's bad ....
