I figger that show will be riddled with inconsistency.
I'm sure the authority having jurisdiction over such matters don't want folks learning the real ins and outs. Kinda like how all them other TV stills ain't never set up proper. That boardwalk empire show on HBO ne er gets it right either.

I'm waiting for the second and third order effects. TV tells us there is a problem and documents it over a couple of weeks. It sparks interest and the hobby is flooded with new guys. Authorities notice the up tick in traffic and gives us a harder look. Not to mention the "I learned it on tv" crew that could help ruin a good thing with shady practices.

Yup, I am already braced for the flood of worthless n00bs that will be flooding the boards shortly. 95% idiots that I would much rather not have to wade through. Fools thinking they have found the golden key to 'easy money'. We may end up with a few members out of the whole deal, but there will be a LOT more chaff with the wheat, than normal.

Hadn't thought about it but you really do have a different perspective on the shows. Sorry for the additional work this will cause you!

I'm afraid that it will probably bring attention the unwanted kind to our beloved hobby.

Wonder how much of this is just spliced clips from other shows. Popcorn hasn't been here since 2009.

Every time they air anything about moonshine or distilleries we get flooded with looky-loo's... Even if they are reruns... And most of what will be aired this time will be culled from previous footage... Heck, old Popcorn Sutton will be in it and he's been gone for a couple years now (three this coming March)... And much of what I've seen in previews is from what I've already seen in other episodes... They sure do get good mileage out of their efforts... :P

I think it's going to be a great show to watch. All they need now is the kid with the banjo, a couple of toothless crackheads chasing their sister around the trailer park, and the stereotype will be complete.

Didn't the discovery channel do legitimate educational shows at one time?

Where's the drama in that...??? If you can't interject a shitload of drama to keep people mesmerized, or some other form of fascination, they'll turn the channel and watch worthless brain-rot sitcoms that'll program them to laugh with each laugh-track whether there is humor or not...

I'm just looking forward to finally learning from an expert. I watched a few episodes of American Chopper (or whatever is called now) and I think I can build motorcycles. Next week I am gonna watch Goldrush so I can finally open my gold mine that I've always wanted.

Can't watch that one... I get so pissed off I wanna put on a wife beater T-shirt and play the part... That's just one of several so called "reality shows" that I just can't watch... If I want entertaining brain-drain I'll watch Tosh.O, SouthPark, or Beavis and Butthead... If I was suicidal and needed a nudge I'd watch Toddlers and Tiara's, Bridezilla, or Cake Boss... :lolno:

Never underestimate the ignorance of the American Public. This Moonshiner show is an insult to artisan distillers.

We've pretty much given up on American TV, and the Discovery Channel used to have some credibility.

A bunch of red neck crackers eating corn pone and swilling beer. Wife beater tee shirts, poor dental hygiene, and lazy dogs. What a testament to our educational system. They will showcase everything that we abhor regarding home distilling.

Bull.

Hell they can't build bikes. Go look at one up close and personal.

Mr Piss, you don't know piss about motorcycles. If Discovery says they are good, than damn it, that's good enough for me. TV and anything found on The Internet have to be true.....right?

Of course, I jest...

And Bull, you may have insulted my entire family in two sentences. And you even had to kick my dog. Dang.
