First spirit run

Put my 3 ½ gal. Of low wines in the boiler, and turned on the heat about half way. Turned on the water @ 80deg, with in 45 min. the column temp was at 150 f. Started dripping at 171 deg.f, collected 200ml @ 84% abv of foreshots. Collected 385 ml of heads at 175 deg f, abv was 82.5%. (Corrected temp.). Started keeping the middle run at 176 deg.f and abv corrected to 80.7%. Continued for 4 hours until temp. Raised to 187.5 and abv dropped to 69%. Collected 2 quarts of tails, quit at 202f. Dumped the foreshots, combined the heads and tails. Came out with 3.5 quarts of 78% abv middle cut.
I am not sure if 385ml of heads was the right cut before starting to keep the middle. If you folks have any comments, my ears are open. Thanks for listening.

Sounds about right to me.
I would turn the heat on high until it starts to boil then turn it down (save you some time). Otherwise, forshots burn real well in your car engine. :D
20-60-20 is a rough approximation of heads-main-tails percentages that I use. It will take a few runs to get it tuned in for your set up. Keep putting a few drops on a spoon to taste and smell your distillate. This is the best way to tell when to make your cuts.
