Ethanol Toxicity
How much of a problem is Ethanol Toxicity, of couse as I'm getting things together to build my own still what does my wife point out on the news in New Brunswick Canada last night is that some fella kills himself by drinking this stuff from the still that he made. They only showed a brief glimps of his still so I I'm taking a guess on thinking that it is a grude pot still. If that particular news agency puts this story on the net I'll place a link.

Ethanol has a fairly low toxicity and I believe it acts as a CNS depressant. The good news is that your ethanol from the still is no worse that the ethanol made by the pros. Methanol is toxic, but is present only in small quantities in the foreshots which are normally thrown out and taste bad anyway. The methanol in fermented beverages is present in small quantities in all undistilled products such as beer and wine and thus does not present much of a problem. Unless of course, you concentrated methanol from a 5-gallon batch and then drank it.

i have personally ingested 172 proof spirits right out of the still and never had a problem. of course, i wasnt throwing back shots in a game of quarters...
don't overdo it. this isnt a fraternity party. know the proof and respect it accordingly.

Ethanol Toxicity
Light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
